Number 1673-Fri.-Apr.1,2011-1:26 a.m. C.D.T. (1)

Dan picked me up. Corey was with him. We went to Delmart and I picked up my paycheck from there. I didn't cash it. Chad had called me earlier saying that Mandy was moving in a month. Her hours at Delmart are available. I told him that I could work Sun. nights but I couldn't work on her Wed. nights. He said he'll talk to Steve and they'll figure something out.
We then went to Radio Shack and I was dropped off. It was only 1:30 p.m. and I didn't start until 4:30 p.m. I brought my boxes of empty water bottles in and filled them right away. I also got my paycheck stubs from Radio Shack and made copies of my paystubs from Delmart. I needed copies of my paystubs to send into the state so they renew my Foodshare benefits. http://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/foodshare/ They want to make sure I'm not a millionaire. I gathered all the stubs and the form for the renewal of my benefits and put them in an envelope I had brought from home. I knew it was going to be heavy so I put 2 stamps on it just in case.
I then left and walked to Wal-Mart. On my walk there I noticed a car for sale in the lot. I went into Wal-Mart and cashed my Delmart paycheck. I had overdrawn my account so I asked them to eliminate the $37.00 fee. The first guy couldn't do it. The next woman, who replaced Nathan, could. She got rid of the $37.00 fee but said it would take a few days to post. I said that's fine. I then went to customer service and got a money order for rent. I had brought another envelope with me from home so I filled out the money order and enveloped it.
I walked back to the car for sale. I memorized the phone number. I walked to Radio Shack to use the phone. It was quite crowded. Tara, Ken, and Tony were working and Richard, the distrct manager,  was there too. Tony was interveiwing a guy named Nathan. He might be working with us soon but who knows? There were a few customers in the store too. I found a secluded spot and used the phone to call the number that was on the car. The guy answered. His name is Dan. I told him I was interested in the car. He posted a price of $700.00. I offered $550.00. He didn't like that. I offered $600.00. He said $650.00. I agreed. I told him that I had to wait for my tax checks to arrive. He said he could wait. I bought the car, kinda. I gave him my name and number and said to keep in touch. He said he would. We'll see if he stays true to his word and doesn't sell the car to anyone else. I'm not too hopeful.
The car is a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville 4dr. It's blue except for the front driver's fender. That's white. The exterior has that faded to primer paint job. The interior is tan leather and cracked but that's ok. It has 207,000+ miles on it. The tires look new. I have an appointment with Dr. Osbourne on Tue. and hopefully she signs the paper so I can get my driver's license back. Then I have to hope Dan doesn't sell the car to someone else. Then I have to wait for my tax check. Hopefully the car is good. Hopefully I get it. It's in Delavan Wal-Mart's parking lot if you want to look at it.
After I bought a car, kinda, over the phone, I left Radio Shack. I walked back to Wal-Mart. I aimlessly walked around for a few mins. I then walked to Panera. I got a large cup of hazelnut coffee and a cheese pastry. I used my $1.00 a pastry reward. I ate the pastry there and just sat for a few mins. When I decided to get up I walked back to Wal-Mart. I bought 2 boxes of Pepperoni Pizza Hot Pockets. I got a Dr. Pepper from the vending machine because they're cheaper there. I walked to Radio Shack.
I just hung out there for a while. There was still an hour left before I was scheduled to start. At about 3:45 p.m. I shot up in the back hallway. Richard was still there and he was in the back room. I cooked the Hot Pockets in the microwave, one box at a time. While the first box was cooking I answered the phone. It was the brother of the woman who bought the scanner last night. He needed help programming it. I helped him over the phone. That took about 10 mins. I ate the Hot Pockets, all of them, after I was finished with the call. I drank the Dr. Pepper too.
I started work. We did inventory tonight. Mike from another store showed up to help us. Jose showed up. Tony had forgotten to pick up some scanning guns from other stores on his way to our store so he left to get them. Tony lives in Illinois and passes two Radio Shacks on his way to our store. He was gone about an hour. Officially Justin was working the floor with me but he did inventory. For some reason Tara told me not to do inventory. I certainly didn't argue with her. I don't know why she told me that though.
There were hardly any customers. Everybody did inventory, everybody but me. Everybody is: Tara, Tony, Mike, Ken, Justin, and Jose. Nathan, the manager at the Lake Geneva store was expected to participate but he didn't arrive until we were finished. The inventory went quickly. We were finished before closing time. Everybody just hung out until we could start the first reconcile. I sold a new Sprint account while everyone was waiting. We have to wait until after closing to start the reconcile. Ken left before the reconcile started.
We started the reconcile. Once again I didn't do shit. I was just hanging out taking up space. I had to wait there because Tara was giving me a ride home. The reconcile went as expected. Entering the new numbers took longer than expected. We're the very first Radio Shack in the world to do an inventory on the new system/P.O.S. Tara and Nathan entered the numbers and were figuring out things as they went along. It took a while but they finally completed entering the numbers from the first reconcile. The second reconcile could start. In between the first and second reconcile I walked to Wal-Mart's lot and got a cart. I brought the cart inside and put my boxes of water in in it.  We're obligated to do at least 3 reconciles after an inventory. After the second reconcile everybody was tired. Mike left. Jose left. Justin left. Justin said he would give me a ride home. Since there was no reason for me to be there, there wasn't for the past 2 hrs., I took him up on his offer. I wheeled the cart out the back door and put the boxes in his S.U.V. I walked the cart to the road and vigorously pushed it back across the road into Wal-Mart's lot. I got in Justin's S.U.V. We went to the bank and he dropped off the deposit. He drove me home then. In my haste to leave I forgot my glucometer and I also forgot the horseradish again. Oh well. they'll be there tomorrow.
The reason we did an inventory tonight is because it's Tara's very last day. Tony takes over as manager of the store tomorrow. Tara will be a district manager in Iowa. I'll miss her. She is one of the coolest people I have ever worked with anywhere. With Tony becoming the manager it softens the blow. Tony's cool and very quick witted. He's no Tara though.
